SPRING’S AWAKENING

Local storyteller Tony Cuckson will be journeying to Buncrana in Donegal to celebrate the awakening of Spring at Tullyarvan Mill.

Many Leitrim natives enjoyed the Inishowen Summer Gathering last July at Doagh Isle where Tony was a featured storyteller. The Inishownen Gathering Committee were so pleased with the turnout that they decided that they should offer their hospitality at the beginning of Spring as well.

Spring’s Awakening is a celebration, through music and storytelling, of the new season, the ancient Celtic festival of Imbolc and the feast of St. Brigid.

Celtic storyteller Tony Cuckson, will tell spellbinding stories from Irish mythology for both children and adults, there will be local stories. In a unique creative exercise the children will be given a guided tour of Tir na Nogh by Tony. Then with the assistance of a guest artist they will be invited to illustrate the mythical characters they meet in special modeling and art workshop after the story.

Adults will have their own stories, too and can participate in a demonstration of St. Brigit's crosses. Jimmy McBride will also be on hand to spin a yarn. Traditional music will provided by Paula,

Melanie & Roisín. No celebration with Celtic roots is complete without the offer of hospitality. Tea and coffee will be served with some good homemade food.

Come along for a different kind of Sunday afternoon.
