The Art of Storytelling.

The stories I tell are intended to teach children and adults about beauty. This is the beauty of their essential selves. I craft unique stories using the ancient mythology of Ireland as well as poetry from as varied sources as W.B.Yeats and Jelaluddin Rumi
Storytelling sessions are accompanied by contemporary and traditional folk songs.

The stories are designed to teach both children and adults some of the following skills:-

Empowerment and courage
How to overcome fear
How to step beyond our comfort zones
How to listen
How to respect others
Connection to the environment and community
The power of love

The Joy of Storytelling

Nations and peoples are largely the stories they feed themselves. If they tell themselves stories that are lies, they will suffer the future con-sequences of those lies. If they tell themselves stories that face their own truths they will free their histories for future flowering's

Storytelling is extremely portable. Here are some venues where storytelling can be easily accommodated:-

With children I often involve them in the session by asking them to craft the story’s ending. They help the hero or heroine win the day. This assists them to feel empowered to overcome adverse circumstances in their lives though the use of creative imagination.

The most powerful stories attempt some sort of answer to the eternal questions. Who are we? What should we do? Where did we come from, where are we going? When and Why? But these questions are eternal because they have no answers. There is a captivating paradox, a heart-rending poignancy in the attempt.
