Who
am I?
This question "Who am I"
is an eternal question. It is a quest that I journey on each day.
This is a spiritual journey. At this stage of my life I simply feel
part of this eternal creative flow we call life.
Describing myself
in more conventional terms my name is Tony Cuckson. I was born the
second of twins in a village outside the city of
Armagh in Northern Ireland
on 20th March 1950.
I have lived with
my soul companion - my mo anam cara - Barbara M. Smith for over
23 years. I have over that time also been graced with the company
of many friends, both human and animal.
What
Work Do I Do?
The work I do involves Storytelling
and Writing mainly
around the themes of Celtic mythology and the work of healing as
an Anam Cara
The
Writing
I write about
the many ways of life as wonderful life.
I write about the The Way
of Desiderata. I write about The Way of Enchantment. I write about
the Way of Poetry and the 7 ways to Finding Its a Wonderful Life.
I write about the many ways to cross what we in Ireland refer to
a "thin places." These are places that are all around
us waiting to be recognized for the banquet moments that they are.
These words are intended to give insight
for living the real life. These words of wisdom are not claimed
as my own. These are not the words of the limitation called "little
me." They are intended for spiritual development. They are
intended as a spiritual resource. These writing are pointers to
finding a life that is full of meaning, purpose and passion.
Storytelling
The
stories I tell are stories about time and timeless. They include
stories about Tir Na Nog - the land of the forever young. I tell
stories about the beautiful people called the Tuatha de Danaan.
These stories are spiritual stories for children and adults. They
are designed to touch the heart and soul of what it means to live
as a human being within the limitation of time. These stories are
written with a view to transporting you into the experience of the
timeless. This is what we in Ireland refer to as the Land of the
Forever Young. This is the experience and the meaning of Tir Na
Nog. The story of Tir Na Nog is the story of the human heart longing
to overcome its sense of separateness from love.
These stories are set deep
in the mythology of Ireland . They are taken from both
folk song and from folk lore.
These stories are interweaved with the poetry of W.
B. Yeats, Jelaluddin Rumi and
others mystical poets. These stories help us ask the essential questions
of life. Interspersed with these stories I play guitar and sing
Irish folk and contemporary folk songs.
Anam
Cara - Soul Friendship
An Anam
Cara is one who is a soul friend. An Anam Cara befriends the soul
of others. They engage in conversation and story that directs you
in answering the eternal question, "Who am I." This is
an engagement in conversation at a deep level. This engagement is
focused on the balance between discipline and deep surrender.
Why
do I do this work?
This work of storytelling
for me is part of my spiritual journey. It helps give me spiritual
direction and it is the work I love to do.
I believe we partake of this
inspirational journey on earth to learn to give and receive love.
One of the best ways to engage
with this learning is through feeling this connection. We feel this
connection when we meet through words and music. We learn to hear
and tell our own unique stories, warts and all. In this way we get
to know who we are. When we are the knowing of who we are then there
is nothing more to be added. We come to know the the Blessing is
already here and we are it.
